INTRODUCING THE PROGRAM FOR TEENAGERS
#FML FACE.MY.LIFE.
With this 8-week program you will have all the tools to turn your life around in the best possible ways! It was made for teenagers that are feeling depressed, lonely or dissatisfied with their life.
This program has been created by an experienced child and youth psychologist that has close to 20 years of practice. Dr. Martine Roberge is specialized is helping with clinical depression, anxiety disorders, autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, learning disabilities and behavioral problems. Dr. Roberge has also worked closely with a yoga teacher for this program to develop activities that will help develop mindfulness and meditation skills and practices.
This program consist of 8 sessions of an hour each every week in a studio in Westboro, Ottawa. There will be around 8 teens in the program at the same time assisted by Dr. Roberge and a certified yoga teacher.
With this program, we will work towards...
Understanding how negative thoughts influence your mood and learn how to stop those self negative thoughts
Developing healthy coping strategies
Learning mindfulness and meditation based strategies that you will be able to use your whole life
Learning how to deal with negative past experiences

PROGRAM BREAKDOWN
Each class has their own activities and lessons and has been created upon building trust, reassurance, knowledge and reflexion. You will be guided along the way by a registered psychologist and a certified yoga teacher.

CLASS 1
CLASS 1
EMBRACING OPENNESS
This class aims at establishing some good foundations in order for you to feel safe to share with others and with us. Also, accepting your vulnerabilities is the first step towards accepting yourself in your current state and to stop the suffering attached to wanting to be somewhere else and someone else.
CLASS 2
FEELING THINGS (A.K.A. EMOTIONS)
Class 2 is all about releasing some stuck energy and emotions in order to be set free. Most of the time, you won't even realize that they are there and without knowing, you feel anxious, numb or even depressed.

CLASS 3
IT'S FINALLY TIME TO LET GO OF YOUR PAST
In this class, you will learn multiple techniques to let go of old negative experiences. If you want to move forward in life, you have to stop looking back at your past and move on.
CLASS 4
STOPPING THE SELF-HATRED MONOLOGUE IN YOUR HEAD
Everyone would need that class! It is so common and constant that you probably don't even notice it anymore. In this class, we will really focus on how to change those negative thoughts against yourself into some positive ones.
CLASS 5
RECONNECTING WITH THE WORLD AROUND US
Often enough, we tend to get stuck in our head and in our problems. In class 5, you will shift your focus on the captivating and beautiful world around you and you will rediscover the grateful feeling of helping the people that you love around you.
CLASS 6
CELEBRATING WHAT YOU ARE GRATEFUL FOR
In this class, you will learn to say thank you to every simple aspect in your life. There is so many beautiful things around us that sometimes you can forget to even look at. After all, gratefulness is the highest zone of energy and this is where you can attract every positive things.
CLASS 7
ALLOWING YOURSELF TO FEEL LOVE
This class is to reconnect with the feeling of love. A lot of times, people feeling depressed also report feeling lonely. After all, it is a vicious circle that if you feel down, you push away the people around you and then in return you feel more lonely and then you push then even more. The simple act of choosing love over fear, is all you need to be set free!
CLASS 8
FORGIVING YOURSELF
This last class is all about forgiving yourself. See it as your last step to letting go. You will finally be more free of judgement, negative thoughts and resentment and you will have acquire all the tools to continue of your own colorful pathway.
THE PROGRAM AT A GLANCE

It is covered by insurance?Yes, there will be some receipts made for the insurance and it will count as therapy from a psychologist.

What is included in the program?The program includes 8 sessions of an hour with Dr. Martine Roberge and a certified yoga teacher. In each of those classes, there will be meditations, mindfulness activities, learning experiences, therapeutic activities and some material distributed. There will also be some at-home practices sheets and materials so that they can continue their learning at home.

How does the program work?The program is based on evidence-based practices such as mindfulness and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). It has been proven how effective those techniques are to reconnect with past traumas, repressed emotions, depressive feelings, anxiety, negative thinking and unhealthy coping strategies. Our program was made in order to give the maximum of tools in order to initiate those positive changes in the life of our clients.

Do I need to have the official diagnosis to be part of the groups?No, detaining the official diagnosis is NOT a requirement to sign up to the groups. Participating in the program also do not constitute as a diagnosis.

What to do if I think it's a good idea but my teen doesn't want to participate?Those programs do require a willingness to participate coming from the teenager in order to see improvement in their mental health. Howewer, if your teenager do show some signs of resistance, a good first step is always to communicate with them. It can be relevant to ask them why they do not want to go or what they are afraid of. You can try reassuring them about how everyone in the room is going to be as scared as you and there is really no shame in going there.
